My Design Philosophy

What draws someone to play a game or watch a movie? There are several methods to do so, but I believe a quality character can serve as the best to draw in and maintain an audience’s attention. As a character and asset modeler, I believe that quality overshadows all. The quality of work should never suffer for the sake of quantity or speed. Every aspect of a character that I create must be made to the best of my ability to best suit for its intended use. I ensure that I know precisely what is needed to be made, in what style, etc. and I use this knowledge to formulate a plan. Then I proceed to create the character considering how it will be used, will it need to be made in pieces or a whole. Upon encountering problems, as is common in this field of work, I overcome them following a simple method of: identify, analyze, experiment, and if necessary workaround. Most importantly I find that I create my best work when I truly enjoy working on it and the more creative or unique the character is the more I enjoy creating it.

About Me

I am a resident of North Carolina and a graduate of East Carolina University with a BFA in Animation/Interactive Design. I am a character and asset modeler with experience in digital modeling programs such as Blender, Maya, and Zbrush. I also have experience in programs like Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. My work experience includes two summers and one winter internship with a gaming company called Solanimus Inc. Shortly after graduation I joined them as their head, 3d art director. During my time with them, I designed and modeled several characters and assets for a new game they were producing. I am currently working freelance producing graphic art for local company East Coast Waterfowl and making a variety of products using the graphics like coasters, keychains, and decals. In addition, I am developing additional designs and products to sell under my own brand.
